Yana is a mobile app that guides you toward a personal goal over a journey of 14 to 90 days, with two short audio sessions a day, written and read by an artificial intelligence from what you share with it.
This policy explains what information Yana collects, why, who it is shared with and what your rights are. Yana is published by Stéphane Darryl Wamo Nkengue, doing business as Yana, in Granby (Quebec, Canada) ("we").
Summary: we collect what is needed to write your sessions; your texts go through OpenAI, and the voice of your French sessions through ElevenLabs, with your explicit agreement; we sell nothing, run no ads and use no third-party tracking tools; you can delete everything from the app at any time.
In short: what you write and choose in the app, your account, your subscription, and usage measurement that never includes your texts. No location, no contacts, no photos, no biometric data.
These texts are yours and may contain personal, even sensitive, information (your emotional state, health, work or financial situation). Only write what you are willing to share with Yana and its AI provider (section 3).
Your subscription status, plan and dates, provided by Apple and RevenueCat. We never see your payment information: it stays with Apple.
To understand where the app helps and where it gets in the way, we record events: the welcome and sign-up screens you go through, a session started, a reminder tapped and what it opened, the result of a sign-in. Each installation gets a random identifier, created by the app, that identifies neither you nor your device; it is linked to your account once created. None of the text you write goes into this measurement. We use no third-party analytics or advertising tools, no advertising identifier, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
The microphone is used only when you tap the "dictate" button of a field, and only for the length of the dictation. Speech recognition is performed by Apple, on your device when possible, otherwise by Apple's servers. The sound is never recorded or sent to us: only the resulting text is written into the field, and it is then handled like typed text.
We do not sell or rent your information, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not train any AI model with it. The content of your sessions is generated automatically, but no automated decision has a legal or similarly significant effect on you.
In short: your texts are sent to OpenAI to write your sessions; the voice of your sessions comes from OpenAI in English and from ElevenLabs in French. The app asks for your explicit agreement before the first transfer.
Yana uses OpenAI services (United States) to write the text of your journey and sessions, and to turn it into speech when the session is in English. When the session is in French, the voice is produced by ElevenLabs (United States).
What is sent to OpenAI: your first name, your gender if you gave it (to write grammatically correct French), the area and the goal, your answers to the discovery questions, your check-in (mood, mission done or not, small win), your recent feedback and notes, your journey plan and a summary of your latest sessions. Your age, email address and subscription information are not sent to it.
What is sent to ElevenLabs: only the text of each French session, to read it aloud. This text may contain your first name and elements of your goal and answers. Nothing else is sent to it: not your age, gender, email address or subscription information. Learn more: ElevenLabs' privacy policy.
Your agreement: before the first transfer, the app explains what goes to OpenAI and ElevenLabs and asks for your explicit agreement. If you accepted an earlier version of this agreement, the app asks you again once. Without it, Yana cannot write your sessions. You can withdraw your agreement by deleting your account (section 8).
What OpenAI does with it: under its terms for developer services, OpenAI does not use this data to train its models and may keep it for up to 30 days to detect abuse before deleting it. Learn more: OpenAI's privacy policy.
AI-generated content can be imperfect. It supports you; it is not medical, psychological, financial or legal advice, nor a promise of results.
We share your information only with the providers Yana needs to work, each for its own role:
| Provider | Role | Data involved | Location |
|---|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Hosting of the database, accounts, audio files and server code | All your account data | Canada (Montreal region) |
| OpenAI | Writing sessions, and the voice of English sessions | See section 3 | United States |
| ElevenLabs | Voice of French sessions | The text of each French session (section 3) | United States |
| RevenueCat | Subscription management | Your account's internal identifier, purchase history | United States |
| Apple | Sign in with Apple, App Store payments, notifications, DeviceCheck, dictation speech recognition | Depending on the service used | United States and elsewhere |
| Sign in with Google, if you choose it | Email and name | United States and elsewhere |
Some of these providers are located outside Quebec and Canada. Their contractual commitments require them to protect your information and to use it only to provide this service to us. We may also disclose information when the law requires it, or as part of a transfer of the business, in which case this policy would continue to apply.
Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted (HTTPS). Each account can only access its own data, through rules enforced in the database itself. Audio files are private and can only be read through temporary links. The keys to the AI services are never in the app. No measure is perfect, but we do what is needed to protect your information and will notify you, as the law requires, of any privacy incident that presents a serious risk.
Yana is intended for people aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect information about younger people. If you believe someone under 16 is using Yana, write to digest.mtl@gmail.com and we will delete their account.
Depending on where you live (Quebec, Canada, the European Union, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, some US states), you may in particular:
Legal bases (European Union, United Kingdom): performance of the service you request (your journey and sessions), your consent (AI processing, microphone, notifications) and our legitimate interest (usage measurement, security, abuse prevention).
US residents: we do not sell your personal information or share it for targeted advertising. You can exercise the rights your state law gives you through the means below, and appeal a refusal by writing to us.
To exercise your rights: write to digest.mtl@gmail.com or use this form. We reply within 30 days and may ask you to confirm your identity.
We will update this policy when the app or the law changes. The date at the top shows the latest version. For significant changes, we will let you know in the app.
